I look forward to sharing with you Brilliant and Excellent tips for attaining your goals, fulfilling your Purpose and making the world a better place.
We once had a guard who, from time to
time, helped the driver wash the cars in the compound. The guard knew nothing
about automobiles, so he relied on what he learnt from the driver. Every time
the driver start to wash the cars, the guard would stand by him and watch, then
he too would do the same. The only thing the guard was never able to do was to
drive the car and move it even though he often sat by the driver’s sit and
dramatize with the keys
A few weeks later, the guard’s cousin
came to visit, soon enough, he too joined in washing the cars in the compound
and like his other cousin, he watched the driver and soon began to do
everything the driver does. Within a few days of trying, the guard’s cousin not
only mastered the washing but was able to move the car entirely on his own.
Although this singular action cost us the fence and the front bumper, I was
forced to reckon that this cousin had something our guard didn’t have.
Some call it “courage”, “boldness”, “audacity”
or “fearlessness”. I call it “guts”. The experience of the guard and his cousin
reminds me that there are two kinds of people:
1. The first kind see
opportunities around them, but never ever stretch to utilize them or even take
advantage of it. They may have the skills, the resources, and the certificate
but somehow they lack guts.
2. The second kind may not
have the advantage of the first kind, but when an opportunity opens up around
them, they step to it and maximize it. Such people are not afraid to stand up
and do something different and unpopular.
Many people in life are crippled by
fear of failure that they never try at something that holds the promise of
great success for them. It takes guts (personal courage and determination) to
succeed at anything meaningful, beyond certificates, money or good looks, it
takes guts to follow your dreams and take hold of your life.
GUTS AND
DECISION MAKING: WHEN TO TRUST YOUR GUTS
Trusting your guts is often used to
mean trusting your intuition when you feel pressured to take a decision. In
life, it takes guts and insight to take a good decision. However, when your
guts seem to be leading in a direction that you consider risky, after
evaluating it and shows a promising path, then by all means, follow through.
Guts is about taking risk, taking chances and overcoming obstacles. Life itself
is a risk but it takes guts to dare to dream and take your life to greater
levels.
HOW TO BUILD
GUTS
Participate in challenging social
events, be it a conversation, a competition, a team, a committee or whatever it
is that makes you afraid.
When you feel wronged, walk up to the
person and gently state your claim. Never with insult or mockery but with
respect. By standing up for yourself when wronged, you build courage and
confidence.
Meet people from time to time and
introduce yourself. Always associate yourself with smart people and learn to
start a conversation with a complete stranger.
Read and learn. Reading opens your
mind to the wisdom of people who have gone ahead and are successful.

Once you
become fearless, life becomes limitless.
