Oppression

Good Morning Brilliant and Excellent People,

I look forward to sharing with you Brilliant and Excellent tips for attaining your goals and fulfilling your Purpose.

This week, i will share a thought on oppression.

“Showing off is the fool’s idea of glory” Bruce Lee

Oppression is the exercise of authority, wealth, knowledge or power in a manner as to make people feel uncomfortable or inferior.

The idea of oppression emanates from the opinion that one is superior to another person. This idea is seen all around us, even amongst children. Check out a group children and you’ll find out that the older ones often intentionally cheat and oppress the younger. Needless to say, this exist in our human nature.

But the irony of life is this:
When we have in abundance and live a life after purpose, we don’t feel any pressure to announce it.
When we don’t have, we feel enormous pressure to announce and display a false status.

The question is why? Why do we ever feel the need to show-off and oppress people?

Mostly, when you find people who feel the need to hold on to what they have and consider themselves superior to everybody else, you have found someone who have underlying behavioural problems. Here are a few factors that causes people to show off and oppress people:

ü         Insecurity: Insecurity is a lack of confidence in one’s abilities that makes you behave in spite of yourself. Insecurity is what happens when you feel vulnerable and inadequate. This often results in a push to want to be seen, to want to be adequate, to want to be everything at once.

ü              Small mindedness: a small minded person is someone who is opinionated and has a streamlined way of thinking. People who oppress lack the ability to think out of the box and see the whole picture, these kinds of people are selfish, narrow minded and intolerant of people.

ü            Seeking attention: this is an offshoot of insecurity that grows into a world of self, that is, everything revolving around them.

What messages are in your actions and words?

Image result for oppression through wealthOur actions or inactions carry hidden messages. Simple activities such as giving and dressing can be tools of oppressing people. Knowledge is great but sometimes, it deceives its possessor to think there is more to him than meets the eye.

Whatever we think we may have, whether material or immaterial, it multiplies when it is invested and the concept of investing is to give it away for a much greater course not for fame or status but for the good of humanity.

Before going ahead with a plan, ask yourself again “why am I doing this?” True motives and intent can reveal the hidden agenda of an action.

A mirror of yourself
Is it possible to be a show off and never realise this? Actually, I believe that the most people who are show offs realises it but never admits it. If change is to occur however, one must have a true reflection of himself. As much as possible, an honest feedback can be gotten from close friends and or families, people who can look you in the face and appraise you.

Not every friend and family will give you an honest opinion however, especially if they are dependants, some people will rather mislead you or deceive you by giving you false ideas.

Emotions on the other side
When we engage in oppression activities, emotions gets fired up. Newton's third law states that for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This reaction are vibes from the receiving end of your actions.
Three common reactions are:
·         Jealousy
·         Pride
·         Competition

Whenever you feel these three emotions flaring up around you, slow down and ask yourself critical questions. There are times actually, when people respond to you without you necessarily evolving those reactions. However, for the most part, people’s reaction are in response to your own actions or their perceived opinion of it.

Ultimate Satisfaction of Success

Good Morning Brilliant and Excellent People,

I look forward to sharing with you Brilliant and Excellent tips for attaining your goals and fulfilling your Purpose.

This week, i will share a thought on the ultimate satisfaction of success.

Success means different things to different people, according to their values and belief system. It is very true that people who believe in their physical status look to their material wealth as equal to success, likewise people who believe in education look to their acquired degrees as equal to success. And values range from ideals to ideals, for example, some value their appearance and so go the extra mile to look good at the expense of their income, for others, whose belief system is rooted in what others think of them, they lose their identity and do as told.

When we define success as comfort, we focus on the money. When we define success as achievements, we focus on the acquired properties. When we define success as being known, we focus on the fame. The bottom line is that our definition of success grossly influence what we focus on and what we focus on is an important predictor of your future success.

The satisfaction that comes with having been successful does not come in the show of it. If you find a man who displays his success by indulging in addictions of any kind, you have found a man whose values are skewed. In a few years’ time, his perceived success will ruin him and he will watch it all drain away. The satisfaction comes when you invest in people. How do I know this? Because that is the only way we will have a multiplication effect. No matter how accomplished you are, truth is, someone somewhere invested in you. They invested time, money, words, opportunities and trust. And when they did it, they had no idea how accomplished you will become. They multiplied themselves.

Here are five things you should always keep in mind:
Don’t lose focus: the level of your success is determined by your focus. Focus enables you to articulate your thoughts and bring them together in a creative idea.
·
Never stop investing in people: investing in people brings about a multiplication effect, in which your success never stops flowing.
·
Define your values: Values are stable long-lasting beliefs about what is important to a person. Values are the standards by which people live their lives and make important decision. We learn values from the society and from experiences, but when your values are upright, you live a more satisfying life doing the things that you believe in.
·
Don’t lose sight of the goal: the dictionary definition of success is the accomplishment of a goal or purpose. But on your way to accomplishment, don’t forget where you are going to and where you are coming from. A measure of success can be intoxicating and make you believe that you have fully achieved all your highest potential. No, you haven’t! Set new goals and never lose sight of it until it is achieved.
·
Success is a journey that does not end: this statement makes sense when you think of success not as something you have to own or a status you have to acclaim, but as a continuous journey to be better and do better in every circumstances.

   Do have a great week

Staying Relevant 2

Good Morning Brilliant and Excellent People,

I look forward to sharing with you Brilliant and Excellent tips for attaining your goals and fulfilling your Purpose.

Last week, we discussed about staying relevant.

This week, we are taking the discussion further and we’ll talk about 7 ways your relevance can make an impact in your world.

Your relevance is preserved when you make an impact in your world, this involves building a legacy that will serve long after you are gone, and this cannot be achieved without having a definite purpose in mind.

Purpose is the definitive factor that drives a person’s life. A man of purpose has focus, he’s not shooting aimlessly, he knows what he wants and he goes for it.

It’s unlike living for survival, living for survival kills ideas, creativity and innovation. A person who wants to impact his world is not giving to the status quo, he launches out with brilliant ideas and thinking of ways to impact his environment.

Living for survival is okay for mediocre people, who believe that the economic situation is too harsh for them to thrive, so they lay low, shut their creativity up and live with what is acceptable.

When we live for survival, we end up being stressed, without accomplishing purpose.

There is more to life than paying bills or meeting daily needs. A life well lived is a life built around legacy and influence. When we have a life of purpose or committed to impact in our world, it creates happiness and moves us to want to do more for the people around us.
So, here are ten ways to impacting your world through relevance:
1.       Find a need and meet it
2.       Practice random acts of kindness
3.       Never stop learning
4.       Invest in people, invest in great ideas
5.       Be honest
6.       Be a change agent
7.       Network in highly potential relationships

Do have a great week ahead.

Good Morning Brilliant and Excellent People,

I look forward to sharing with you Brilliant and Excellent tips for attaining your goals and fulfilling your Purpose.

Today, I will like to share a thought on staying relevant.

Image result for stay relevantI am sure if you are asked, you will give names of some personalities who were once relevant but no longer. So many more list we can generate of people who were once rich and now trying to survive, people who once owned private jets and mansions but now walk on the streets.

We also have other personalities that are alive and some dead but they are still much relevant to the society and their impacts cannot be underestimated.

Image result for stay relevantA major accomplishment of purpose is a life well spent with much relevance all through the stages of life.

To stay relevant all through the stages of life, you must consider the following:

·  Define purpose and write clear goals and visions for each stage considering your strength, age and other factors.
·       Review the goals periodically for amendments where needed.
·   Identify the various fields you have passion for and where you can really make impact
·       Be consistent and stay disciplined
·    Get mentors and stay around the right people who can inspire you in all the stages identified.
·  Stay open to new trends and educate yourself
